Michael and Grigsby

After 30 years in law enforcement sadly Mike was diagnosed with Hereditary Spastic Parapalegia (which is an inherited Neurological Disorder). Since then it has become increasingly difficult to walk and loss of balance which causes many falls.

Enter Grigsby! When Mike and his wife Jenny came to West Palm Beach for their Genesis Interview we introduced him to two dogs and it was an immediate bond between Mike and Grigsby. Mike waited patiently for Grigsby to finish his training and then came for his two week team training. They both worked so hard under the supervision of Genesis trainer Jen Bielen.

Grigsby helps with Mikes mobility, getting up from a sitting position, retrieving dropped items, opening doors and giving Mike the confidence to get out and about, and last but not least that 24- 7 companionship.

Grigsby has been welcomed into the family with open arms, Mike and Jenny’s children and grandchildren all live close by so Grigsby is surrounded by love, but first and foremost his role is Mikes assistance dog.
