Become a Breeder-Caretaker

Genesis Assistance Dogs, Inc. is looking for qualified families to raise our puppies and dogs.  At eight to ten weeks of age, puppies are placed with foster families and will begin their puppy kindergarten and basic training classes, and must pass their Pet Partners and Access Certifications.  Puppies remain with a family until they are approximately eight months old, and then return to the Training Center to begin their intermediate training.  At approximately 10 months of age, junior dogs are placed with foster families to continue their intermediate training and socialization.  Dogs remain with their foster families until they are approximately 18 months old at which time they return to the Training Center to begin advanced training and future placement with a qualified client.

Genesis is also looking for qualified families to raise our breeder dogs.  Breeder dogs will be placed with families as part of the family where they will remain even after breeding .  Breeder dogs are required to have basic and intermediate training and be Pet Partners and Access certified so that they may appear in public as ambassadors for the organization.  At approximately two years of age, if a breeder dog passes all of her health clearances, she will be bred.  Dogs will be bred no more than three times during their lifetime and will then remain with the family after breeding.
