Cindy and Remi

I am so thankful to Genesis Assistance Dogs Inc. for giving me the opportunity to partner with Remi as my mobility service dog. I was diagnosed with Juvenile Arthritis when I was 10 years old. I have had mobility issues most of my life. When I was young, I would always try to find ways to compensate difficult tasks. As I have gotten older, I have found that my mobility has decreased over time and simple things like picking something up and balance while I walk had become a struggle for me. I have been teaching 22 years and love being an elementary school teacher. I was worried that I may no longer be able to do the job I loved as my mobility continued to decline. My daughter urged me to apply to Genesis Assistance Dogs Inc. and I am so happy I did. Remi is trained to help with the mobility issues I struggle with. Now my day is no longer filled with frustration as I try to complete simple tasks. Remi goes to school with me. He retrieves items I drop. He helps keep me balanced as I walk, which decreases my fall risk as well as my pain. I rarely have the extreme pain like I was having prior to getting Remi. Besides being an amazing working dog, Remi is sweet, playful, comforting and loves to snuggle during his “off” hours. Genesis Assistance Dogs Inc. cares about the people and service dogs that they place. They do not stop at just placing you with a dog. They partner with you for life. Remi has changed my life and I am truly blessed. I am proud to now be a part of the Genesis Family!
